Using the 3.0.1 update on the original DiskWarrior CD caused some troubles. Using a firewire burner from AOpen CDRW simply stopped the update process with a not explained 'Error' message. Changing the burner to a Sony CDRW started the update process but failed to close the disc.
Using the formerly discribed workaround by keeping the temporarily saved disk image within the '.tmp' directory under different name and place resulted a non-bootable CD of about 480 MB size. So I found another way to get a bootable CD:
1. Start the DiskWarrior update with inserted original CD.
2. Save the resulting disk image within the '.tmp' directory with a new name in another place (I used 'DW301.dmg' as the new file name) before the updater itself quits.
3. Use the freeware 'Damage Isolation 0.1', available from
http://www.zerolives.org/?p=software.php
and drag the '.dmg' file onto the script.
4. After a short period of time You will get a new file named 'DW301.iso.cdr' which will be self-mounting on the desktop.
5. Now You can use any burning software You like to burn a bootable new DiskWarrior CD containing the 3.0.1 main application at the size of about 650 MB.
I tried this one because all of my external firewire CD burners were not of the type Apple calls 'compatible to the Mac OS'. But even an original tiBook DVD CD burner wasn´t able to burn a bootable updated DiskWarrior CD.
